Japan's $44 million dollar security system, which was installed in 30 airports in 2007 to help improve security and prevent terrorists from entering Japan, has apparently been circumvented by a South Korean woman using tape applied to her fingers.
The South Korean woman, who was deported from Japan in July 2007 after illegally staying in the city of Nagano, Japan, was found once again to be living in the same city in August 2008, prompting the investigation to take place.
She told investigators that she applied the special tape to her fingers which allowed her to circumvent and pass through an airport fingerprint reader. The tape is believed to have been acquired along with a fake passport form a South Korean broker.
